Will a Heat Pump Actually Heat Your Maine Home? Here's the Proof.

The most common question we hear: "Will it hold up in a Maine winter?" This case study answers it with real numbers. A homeowner replaced an old hot-water baseboard system during a multi-story renovation and chose EcoHeat Maine for the job. Here's exactly what we installed, how long it took, and what they've saved since — including a two-day stretch at −12°F.

Three Steps. One Winter. Real Savings.

QUOTING
SYSTEM SIZE 48,000 BTU
BRAND Four-Head Samsung

The client had removed an old hot-water baseboard system and needed a more efficient, cost-effective replacement. EcoHeat Maine performed a site visit and quoted a 48,000 BTU four-head Samsung system — three units covering the open-concept living/dining/kitchen area and main-level bedrooms, and one downstairs unit for the finished basement. We sized each head carefully: the main upstairs unit was large enough to cover the full open living area, and the basement unit was chosen to handle the naturally cooler space and higher humidity. Every quote starts with a site visit for exactly this reason.

INSTALLING
DURATION 2-Day Install
EcoHeat Maine heat pump mini split install — 48,000 BTU four-head Samsung system

With winter approaching and the old system already out, we moved fast. The EcoHeat Maine crew completed the job in 2 days — mounting the upstairs units first, running lines from the gutted basement, then tying all components to the single compressor at the back of the home. We also recommended tying the drain lines into the home's plumbing to keep water well away from a block foundation that had seeping issues being addressed in the renovation. Power-up and testing went smoothly. The contractors had heat the following morning.

SAVING
SAVINGS AT 6 MONTHS Over $1,000
COLD TESTED AT -12°F

The savings were immediate. November through January, the electric bill averaged $250–$300/month — compared to the previous $150 electric + $300 oil bill. At six months, the homeowner had already saved over $1,000. And when a two-day stretch hit −12°F, the system kept running without a problem. Through summer it's cooled and dehumidified the home efficiently. One system. Year-round comfort. Real Maine winters.

"I could not be more pleased with our heat pump system. The EcoHeat Maine team has saved me a ton of money, and my home’s ambient temperature is more comfortable and easier to manage than it’s ever been."
